But I think you should also add making a batch of these Baked Apple Chips to your to-do list! They’re less work, they make a good portable snack for school and extracurricular sports, and they still have lots of warm, cozy flavor thanks to the cinnamon sugar coating. You’ll love them and so will your kids!

Don’t let fall pass you by without making a batch of these cinnamon apple chips! Here’s what makes them one of my favorites for this time of year.
- Easy to make. Just slice the apples and coat them in cinnamon sugar, then let the air fryer do the rest. Simple!
- Perfect in the air fryer. While you can make baked apple chips in the oven, the air fryer does a better job of getting them crispy, which I love. (These Air Fryer Wonton Chips are super crispy too!)
- So much better than store-bought. Grocery store apple chips have a taste and texture that’s not all that different from cardboard. These homemade apple chips have the best apple flavor, along with all that cozy cinnamon!

- Apples – I like to use Gala apples, but any crisp apple that can be used for baking will work to make apple chips.
- Cinnamon – For that warm fall flavor.
- Sugar – Just regular white sugar, nothing fancy!
How to Make Baked Apple Chips in the Air Fryer
Here’s a step-by-step guide to show you the process of making this recipe.




- Prep the apples. Slice them into 1/8-inch rounds and remove the seeds. Arrange the apple slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Make the cinnamon sugar. Whisk together the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.




- Season the apples. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the apple slices.
- Air fry. Coat the basket of your air fryer with cooking spray, then add a single layer of apple slices. Cook for 15 minutes at 300ºF, tossing every few minutes.
- Cool. Take the baked apple chips out of the basket and let them cool; they’ll get crispier with cooling. Repeat with the next batch of apple slices.


Tips and Variations
These additional pointers will help you make sure your baked apple chips turn out perfect!
- Use a mandoline slicer. This is the best way to get uniformly thin, even slices that crisp up in the air fryer!
- Cook in batches. You won’t be able to cook all the apple chips at once, so don’t try to! If you crowd the basket, they won’t get crispy.
- Try other spices. Instead of cinnamon, you can use apple pie spice or even pumpkin pie spice. Cardamom would be delicious too!
How to Store
Let your baked apple chips cool completely. If they’re even a little bit warm, they’ll steam in your storage container and get soggy.
Once cooled, transfer the chips to an airtight container, zip-top bag, or large jar. They’ll keep for up to a week; if they get soft, you can pop them in the air fryer at 300ºF and air fry until they’re crisp again.
